AdPVTech is a research group of the University of Jaén, within the field of photovoltaic (PV) energy, created in 2020. The AdPVTech group has made up of four permanent senior researchers with more than 15 years of experience working in the field of the PV and CPV technology: Dr. Eduardo F. Fernández, (Ramón y Cajal researcher and Head of the group), Dr. Pedro Pérez Higueras (Full professor) and Dra. Florencia Almonacid Cruz (Full Professor), and several postdoctoral researchers, PhD students and technicians.
The main objective is the development, modelling and evaluation of photovoltaic technology, being its main researcher lines: a) Development and evaluation of new technologies, b) Concentrating photovoltaics, c) Hybrid systems, d) Bifacial systems, e) Integration in buildings and rural areas, f) Photovoltaic cells, optics and heat transfer systems, g) New materials, h) Electrical modelling and energy assessment, i) Development of hardware and software for improved O&M, j) Economic evaluation of new technologies and systems, and k) Integration of photovoltaics in agriculture (AgriPV)
The group has a multidisciplinary and international character and actively collaborates with prestigious research institutions such as the Environment and Sustainability Institute of University of Exeter (UK), Fraunhofer ISE (Germay), National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) (USA), the Institute of Energy of the Cardiff University (UK), the FOSS Research Centre for Sustainable Energy of the University of Cyprus (Cyprus) or the Sandia National Laboratories (USA). The group has also collaborated with relevant private companies of the field such as BSQ Solar, Ingeteam, Sener, Teknia, Abengoa Solar, Isofoton, Atonometrics Inc or IQE plc, Sonnedix Power Holdings Limited or Alectris Hellas IKE.
