ADUSearch is a free, online, interactive mapping tool that allows users to determine the physical feasibility and affordability of building a detached ADU in compliance with local zoning bylaws. By analyzing existing and potential ADU development at both a lot-by-lot and neighbourhood level, ADUSearch informs property owners’ and policymakers’ local decisions and the broader policy implications of incentivizing ADU development. With funding from CMHC’s Housing Supply Challenge, we are currently working on scaling our proof of concept to 100 municipalities across Canada.
The ADUSearch tool is supported by Family Services Windsor-Essex (FSWE), a non-profit, charitable organization that provides support to build resiliency and restore people’s ability to choose their own place in the world. FSWE is committed to investing in initiatives that increase housing affordability and supply to support communities and families in their ability to determine their future.
