Our vision is empowered agriculture SMEs (Agri-SMEs) that can procure optimal inputs and invest in innovative technology to grow their businesses and sustainably develop their communities. AgriFunder’s objective is to leverage two opportunities for development: the $450 billion credit gap in agriculture and the potential to double poverty reduction from agriculture investments.
AgriFunder’s Platform
AgriFunder will be the world's first Shariah-compliant crowdfunding platform dedicated to Agri-SMEs. An experienced team of finance and development professionals from leading international organisations came together to principally solve the financing gap for Agri-SMEs.
AgriFunder will raise funds from international crowd-investors for target Agri-SMEs. The starting point is reputable partner financial institutions (PFIs) who are interested in supporting SMEs that are adjacent to their core client base. Partnering with an international crowdfunding platform enables PFIs to extend financing on more favourable commercial terms. The PFIs will help screen applicants and administer AgriFunder’s financing for a fee with the option of becoming a co-financier. Repaid funds can be reinvested to continue the cycle of prosperity.
Current Status
AgriFunder has formed its core team and is now developing a pilot for market validation involving five SMEs with up to 2 PFIs. Initially, we are leveraging the Islamic Development Bank Group’s internal and external networks to promote the platform and are targeting a Q4, 2017 general launch.
