全球搶攻人工智慧商機，AI晶片將扮演核心大腦的角色，是未來智慧裝置的關鍵元件，更是各界看好台灣半導體產業下一波的新機會。為此，在行政院科技會報辦公室、經濟部指導下，產、學、研攜手於2019年7月2日啟動「台灣人工智慧晶片聯盟」(AI on Chip Taiwan Alliance，AITA，諧音愛台聯盟)，匯集鈺創、聯發科、廣達、台達電等國內外逾80家指標性半導體與ICT廠商，以及國內大學及工研院等國家級研發機構; 並於當年度11月26日成立「AI系統應用」、「異質AI晶片整合」、「新興運算架構AI晶片」、「AI系統軟體」四大關鍵技術委員會。
率先發表的4項台灣AI晶片產業技術規格可望協助產業降低AI晶片10倍的研發費用、縮短AI晶片6個月以上的開發時程、AI晶片效能提升2倍、建立自主專利四大目標，未來更將共同建構AI生態系、發展關鍵技術、加速產品開發，全速搶攻AI晶片戰略布局。AI技術是下一個10年最重要的技術，為政府積極發展「5+2產業創新政策」、邁向智慧國家的關鍵基石，而晶片又是AI最關鍵的大腦。行政院已指導經濟部攜手TSIA，推動成立台灣人工智慧晶片聯盟，如今凝聚業者需求組隊四大委員會，將持續發揮台灣領先全球的半導體與ICT強項，促進台灣成為AI晶片與智慧系統輸出國。
