AKADemikerinnen Flucht/Migration Frauen/Mädchen (AKAD FM-FM) from Menschenrechte-Einundzwanzig e. V. is a feminist-orientated association of female refugees and immigrant academics from various academic fields and disciplines.
AKAD FM-FM is committed to improving the opportunities of immigrant and refugee female academics, with a focus on education, professional integration, counselling on the recognition of documents and sustainable environmental education. It informs, advises and supports these women in order to promote their integration into the German education and labour market and to facilitate their qualification and career entry.
The initiative emerged from the MINT FM-FM working group of the German Association of Women Engineers, which was founded in 2015 to promote women in the MINT sector in particular. The working group was reorganised in 2019, resulting in AKAD FM-FM, which now focuses on all disciplines beyond STEM and a broader range of support measures.
In addition to the 4 focal points mentioned above, AKAD FM-FM organises many other activities such as publications, research work and lectures as well as membership in organisations and cooperation with authorities or practitioners in integration work. AKAD FM-FM has been honoured with several certificates and awards for its activities, including the Science Outreach Award from the European Proteomics Association in Oct. 2024.
