ALS Centrum Nederland is het expertisecentrum op het gebied van ALS, PSMA en PLS en is gevestigd in het UMC Utrecht. Het centrum heeft als doel de diagnostiek, zorg en behandeling voor mensen met ALS in Nederland te optimaliseren.
Binnen het centrum werkt een multidisciplinair team samen aan het vinden van een behandeling voor ALS en het bieden van de juiste zorg. Denk hierbij aan neurologen, revalidatieartsen en onderzoekers samen met een team van paramedici.
ALS Zorgnetwerk
Het ALS Zorgnetwerk stimuleert het delen van kennis en ervaring tussen behandelteams en bevordert optimale afstemming met thuiszorg en huisarts. Dit netwerk wordt gecoördineerd vanuit het ALS Centrum en bestaat uit verschillende ALS-behandelteams. Het ALS Centrum is één van deze behandelteams. Nationale- en internationale samenwerking
Zowel op nationaal als internationaal gebied wordt binnen het ALS Centrum de samenwerking opgezocht. Op internationaal gebied is deze samenwerking verenigd in TRICALS (www.tricals.org). Dit is een samenwerkingsverband van onderzoekscentra uit vijftien landen, om samen een behandeling voor ALS te vinden.
