The mission of AmeriCorps NCCC is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through team-based service.
Members travel the U.S. for 10-11 months, providing service and relief to communities in need. AmeriCorps NCCC is comprised of four distinct service tracks: Traditional Corps, FEMA Corps, Forest Corps, and Summer of Service.
Our traditional AmeriCorps NCCC track is a rugged and demanding service experience designed to strengthen communities and build America’s next generation of leaders. Teams complete direct, hands-on service projects like cleaning up after natural disasters, constructing homes, tutoring students, building trails in parks and forests, and more. They work in partnership with non-profits, local municipalities, state governments, federal government, national and state parks, Indian tribes, and schools.
Our FEMA Corps track is an immersive professional experience supporting active FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) projects that strengthen our nation’s capacity to prepare for and respond to disasters. Teams deliver disaster prevention, response, and recovery services by providing administrative and logistical support.
Summer of Service is a simplified version of NCCC’s other programs, on a shortened timeframe.
Forest Corps is a program partnership between AmeriCorps NCCC and United States Forest Service. You will perform direct, hands-on service in the areas of wildfire risk mitigation, reforestation, environmental conservation, and resource management.
AmeriCorps NCCC teams are small groups comprised of 18-26-year-old Members under the direction of one Team Leader. Members are assigned to one of four regional campuses for initial trainings: Sacramento, CA; Aurora, CO; Vinton, IA; or Vicksburg, MS. After training, teams are deployed to multiple projects throughout the country over the course of their 10 to 11-month service term.
