1956 yılında kurulan dernek, 1972 yılında "Anesteziyoloji ve Reanimasyon Derneği" adını almıştır. "Türk" ibaresi 1975'te resmiyet kazanmıştır. TARD merkezi İstanbul, Gümüşsuyu'ndadır.
