The ANU Actuarial, Finance, Economics, Commerce Students’ Society, known as AFEC, is one of the largest and most influential students’ societies at ANU.
AFEC has a vision for all its members – to provide students with insight and advice into career opportunities in the industry they are most passionate about. Our society targets a multitude of disciplines within and extending beyond those degrees offered in the CBE.
We aim to fast-track students’ career paths by providing them with the skills necessary to communicate and excel in the corporate world through our annual Graduate Seminar and guest speakers. Furthermore, we enable students to socialize with firm representatives outside an academic atmosphere and in a more relaxed environment by hosting our annual networking events including Corporate Cocktails, Careers Fair, and the Office Visits to visit firms in Sydney, as well as countless on-campus presentations and barbecues with our sponsors. Alongside our goal to promote interaction between CBE students, our major social events include the AFEC Welcome Party, Trivia Night, as well as our ever-anticipated AFEC Ball.
Aside from our events throughout the year, AFEC is a platform to exchange information between students and potential employers. We provide all students in our membership base with details highlighting graduate opportunities, internships and cadetships so all students can maximise their chances in securing their aspired job upon completing their university studies.
AFEC is proudly sponsored by some of the most prestigious organisations in Australia, some of which may lead to international opportunities. Above all, our society aims to assist the students’ academic careers, expand their career perspectives and enhance their social engagements.
