L’Association APRAIH (Association Pour Recherche Animation Insertion Handicap) a été fondée en 1981 au sein du service de MPR du CHU de Nantes.
Elle a historiquement pour vocation :
- De financer du matériel d’adaptation et de recherche autour du handicap (notamment auprès des patients du CHU de Nantes).
- De proposer des activités sportives, culturelles et de loisirs aux patients hospitalisés.
- De favoriser la réadaptation, et la réinsertion sociale des personnes en situation de handicap.
La force de cette Association, est d’être constituée de professionnels du handicap, ainsi que de personnes en situation de handicap (hospitalisées ou anciennement hospitalisées), dans le but de remplir conjointement les missions de l’Association.
L’association possède un véhicule (minibus) adapté, qu’elle met à disposition du personnel d’animation, pour tout déplacement de loisirs, ou administratif (préfecture, lieu de scolarisation en vue d’une re-scolarisation), afin de faciliter les déplacements des personnes à mobilité réduite.
Elle met également à disposition un appartement dit adapté (en sous location), pour faire le relais entre l’hospitalisation et le retour à domicile, dans un contexte parfois difficile de recherche de logement adapté.
Notre Association est œuvre pour la réadaptation et l’intégration des personnes en situation de handicap en étant présente dès le début d’hospitalisation auprès d’eux, et en les accompagnant jusqu’à leur sortie d’hospitalisation et au delà.
