Dédiée aux arts visuels depuis 1995, L’Artothèque est une bibliothèque de plus de 2 000 œuvres d’art qui offre en location des œuvres originales à des prix abordables aux particuliers, entreprises, institutions et sociétés de productions audiovisuelles. L’Artothèque propose également des expositions diversifiées, des ateliers de médiation culturelle et des sessions de formation aux artistes et travailleurs culturels.
Ses missions sont de soutenir la création et les artistes du Québec et du Canada, proposer une alternative innovante à la diffusion des œuvres d’art et favoriser la compréhension des arts visuels auprès du public. Organisme sans but lucratif, L’Artothèque est une activité de la Fondation des arts et métiers d’art du Québec (FAMAQ). Elle est aussi membre de la Société des musées québécois (SMQ).
