Astrology: a data science perspective email format

Astrology is known by different names in different parts of the world. In India it is popularly known as Jyotish, in western countries it is Astrology, in Chinese Zhānxīng shù etc. Even though in India Astrology is considered to be very old & from Vedas, in the present form of astrology several influences of Babylon, Rome, Greece etc can be seen and most notably in methods used to calculate position of planets. In India the credit to aggregate Astrology related knowledge goes to Varahmihira who is said to have lived between 505 AD to 587 AD [1]. His three notable creations - Pancha Siddhantika, Brihat Samhita, Brihadjathaka consolidated the three important bases of Astrology/ Jyotish namely - Siddhanta, Samhita, Hora (also known as phalit jyotish). दुनिया के अलग-अलग हिस्सों में ज्योतिष को अलग-अलग नामों से जाना जाता है। भारत में इसे लोकप्रिय रूप से ज्योतिष के नाम से जाना जाता है, पश्चिमी देशों में इसे एस्ट्रोलोजी, चीन में झानक्सिंग शु आदि के नाम से जाना जाता है। भले ही भारत में ज्योतिष को बहुत पुराना और वेदों से उत्पन्न माना जाता है, ज्योतिष के वर्तमान रूप में बेबीलोन, रोम, ग्रीस आदि के कई प्रभाव देखे जा सकते हैं और विशेष रूप से ग्रहों की स्थिति की गणना करने के लिए उपयोग की जाने वाली विधियों में। भारत में ज्योतिष से संबंधित ज्ञान को एकत्र करने का श्रेय वराहमिहिर को जाता है, जिनके बारे में कहा जाता है कि वे ५०५ ईस्वी से ५८७ ईस्वी के बीच रहे थे [1]। उनकी तीन उल्लेखनीय रचनाएँ - पंच सिद्धांतिका, बृहत संहिता, बृहद्जथक ने ज्योतिष के तीन महत्वपूर्ण आधारों को समेकित किया - सिद्धांत, संहिता, होरा (जिसे फलित ज्योतिष भी कहा जाता है)। [1] Brian Evans (24 February 2014). The Development of Mathematics Throughout the Centuries: A Brief History in a Cultural Context.
