Die Louise Aubry-Kappeler-Stiftung unterstützt im Rahmen ihrer finanziellen Möglichkeiten im Kanton Basel-Stadt lebende Menschen, die aus sozialen, gesundheitlichen oder anderen Gründen hilfsbedürftig sind. Die Hilfe ist subsidiär, beziehungsweise ergänzend. Jährlich werden bis zu 600 Gesuche um Einzelfallhilfen geprüft. Derzeit werden mit jährlich rund CHF 500’000 direkt Betroffene unterstützt. Dazu gehören beispielsweise Nebenkostenabrechnungen, die nicht mehr getragen werden können, Zahnbehandlungskosten, Unterstützung für nötige Anschaffungen, Deutsch- und Schwimmkurse oder Freizeitaktivitäten für Kinder. Die Stiftung reagiert in der Form ihrer Unterstützung auch auf gesellschaftliche Entwicklungen.
Zusätzlich zur Einzelfallhilfe will die Stiftung zukünftig auch vermehrt Organisationen in Basel unterstützen, die sich gegen Armut und für Menschen in Not einsetzen.
