Bedenker, bezieler en boegbeeld van ons fonds, Thomas Van der Plaetsen, realiseerde na teelbalkanker zijn sportieve comeback als Europees kampioen tienkamp in 2016.
Ons doel is om zoveel mogelijk (ex-) kankerpatiënten en hun naaste(n) toegang te geven tot een platform van experten die hen ondersteunen om fysiek, mentaal, emotioneel en sociaal ‘back on track’ te geraken in het leven. Om zo hun persoonlijke comeback te realiseren.
Deze holistische aanpak willen we faseren opdat elke (ex-) kankerpatiënt en diens naaste(n) op zijn/haar niveau het leven opnieuw in eigen handen kan nemen en de betere versie van zichzelf kan worden. Binnen die verschillende fasen willen we inspireren, uitdagen en ondersteunen:
1. Back on Track Inspiration: Deskundig aanbieden van inspiratiemomenten (lezingen, workshops, trainingen) en laagdrempelige bewegingsmomenten (yoga, wandelen, ...).
2. Back on Track Challenge: Run (10 km) en Bike (70 km) Challenge onder begeleiding van onze professionele coaches uit de entourage van Thomas. Binnen dit programma zit ook een mindfulnesstraining. In 2021 wordt deze fase uitgebreid met een Wandelchallenge.
3. Stay on Track: Onze deelnemers duurzaam in beweging blijven houden, op alle domeinen van ons mens zijn en ondersteund onze experten. In deze groep zit ook ons vrijwilligersnetwerk.
