My name is Ewa Filipowski (the “w” in my first name Ewa is pronounced as a “v” in English). I’m a mother of young twin boys, a Nutritonal Consulting Practitioner, Reiki Master, Cupping Therapist, Recreational Athlete, and a former professional dancer and student of the Marie Curie Sklodowski School of Dance & owner of Balanced Nutritional Energy.
I am fortunate and grateful to have grown up where fresh healthy, nutritious, whole, foods were a part of our household and daily living. The kitchen was a place of nourishment and nurture.
My Mamusia (Mom) passed on to me the gift of good health — whole, fresh, organic, and nutritious food. We grew up eating healthy food at every meal and to this day, food is the most important topic of conversation with my Mom. Growing up in a family of 5 children, we were fed, and then told to go outside to play in nature until sunset. I remember eating and playing with so much fondness!
I was taught at a young age that health is one of the most valuable things in life, and to this day I am a firm believer in the wise phrase my Mom instilled in her children growing up. It reminds me of what Herophilus, the Greek physician quoted:
“When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied.”
Having grown up with allergies from a very young age made me aware of what I was eating, smelling, tasting, and how the food I put in my mouth or touched made me feel. This in turn has helped me develop a strong awareness of food and mindfulness. Food is an extraordinary gift of nature and it is there for us to enjoy, as it’s one of life’s greatest pleasures. Food is essential for life as it offers healing, nourishment, comfort, and most important — it brings people together.
