প্রতিষ্ঠাকাল (১৯৭৯) স্কুলের নিজস্ব ভবন নির্মাণের জন্য ক্যান্টনমেন্ট বোর্ড সিএমএইচ ও সেনাসরণির মধ্যবর্তী অংশে ১৪ একর জমি প্রদান করে। এই জমিতে বগুড়া ক্যান্টনমেন্ট পাবলিক স্কুল ও কলেজের ভিত্তিপ্রস্থর স্থাপন করেন তৎকালীন রাষ্ট্রপতি জিয়াউর রহমান। উল্লেখ্য,সেই সময় প্রতিষ্ঠানটির নামকরণ করা হয় ক্যান্টনমেন্ট পাবলিক স্কুল ও কলেজ বগুড়া। ১৯৭৯ সালের ২৭ মার্চ তিনি ইংরেজি 'এইচ' আকৃতির দ্বিতল ভবনের নির্মাণ কাজ শুভ উদ্বোধন করেন। প্রতিষ্ঠানটি আনুষ্ঠানিক যাত্রা শুরু করে ১৯৭৯ সালের ২২ নভেম্বর। প্রতিষ্ঠানটি কার্যক্রম শুরুতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন তৎকালীন ১১ পদাতিক ডিভিশনের জিওসি মেজর জেনারেল আমজাদ আহমেদ চৌধুরি,পিএসসি। সূচনালগ্নে বগুড়া ক্যান্টনমেন্ট পাবলিক স্কুল ও কলেজ বর্তমান সিএমএইচ এর একটি কক্ষে দশ-বারো জন ছাত্র-ছাত্রী নিয়ে পাঠদান শুরু করে। সেসময় অষ্ঠম শ্রেণি অবধি পাঠদান করা হতো। প্রথম পর্যায়ে শিক্ষা কার্যক্রম সুষ্ঠু রূপে পরিচালনার জন্য মেজর জেনারেল আমজাদ আহমেদ চৌধুরি, পিএসসি রংপুর ক্যান্টনমেন্ট পাবলিক স্কুল ও কলেজ হতে দুই জন শিক্ষক(মিঃ শিবেন্দ্রনাথ ভৌমিক ও মিঃ সাজেদুল ইসলাম)কে এই প্রতিষ্ঠানে নিযুক্ত করেন। মিঃ শিবেন্দ্রনাথ ভৌমিক ভারপ্রাপ্ত অধ্যক্ষ হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ের শিক্ষক স্বল্পতা দূরীকরণের জন্য বেগম আমজাদ আহমদ চৌধুরির অনুরোধক্রমে কর্ণেল আলতাফ হোসেনের স্ত্রী মিসেস রিজিয়া আলতাফ স্কুলে শিক্ষকতা শুরু করেন। তাঁর যোগদানে প্রতিষ্ঠানের শিক্ষক স্বল্পতা সাময়িকভাবে দূর হয়।
