Our mission is to demonstrate how local communities are realizing and dealing with the impacts of global change* through the support, distribution, and collection of grass root film documentaries that directly illustrate both problems and solutions. The public facing part includes organizing, managing, and promoting film festivals under the theme of “local effects and solutions to global change”.
We aim to give voice to local communities who talk about their own problems and initiate an independent platform to address how to best deal with the emerging global climate crisis that is diverse in local impact. We imagine building and fostering a more local and smaller, and more importantly a genuine and more authentic community that shares true stories through this festival. It is our goal, through giving voice to communities on the “front lines” of global change, to dispense a practical, real, and true sense of immediacy to a process that will continue to impact billions of people.
Finally we believe that such community stories will inspire, provide hope, and empower communities to engage in change.
*"Global change" is used by the broader Earth science community and describes the complex environmental impacts of warming temperatures. These include water scarcity and multi-year droughts, intensity of storm patterns, agricultural droughts, disease demographics, sea-level change, and numerous stressors on economic health and ecological systems.
