Bio-Tronic Energy offers bio-innovative technologies and services to optimize the energy-extraction efficiency of anaerobic digesters (ADs), supercharging renewable biogas production and methane emissions reduction.
Our AD solutions are based on the automated iBioBooster™ (iBB™) system, developed to accelerate, increase, and stabilize the methanogenic process and the production of biogas with high methane content in any existing or new AD, regardless of type, size, or organic feedstock.
In industrial-scale demonstrations at ADs in Italy and China, iBB systems have delivered 8–28% increases in biogas output. In the U.S., these improvements translate into higher revenues from renewable and low-carbon RNG sales, as well as federal and state marketable credits (RINs and LCFS).
The iBB system integrates flexible biotechnologies, smart hardware, advanced software, and machine learning. It continuously augments and replenishes the AD’s population of methanogens using only bacteria, enzymes, nutrients, and additives already present in the digester’s feedstocks and substrate. It reduces the risk of biological upset, supports rapid recovery or restart, and can shorten waste retention time. It complements existing systems that manage and enhance digester operations.
An iBB system can be installed at any operating AD without interrupting its function. Delivered in a container-sized unit, it connects to the AD via two small pipes and is fully operational within 6–8 weeks. It runs offline but in coordination with the host AD and can be remotely monitored, programmed, and controlled—without requiring additional AD staff.
iBB functionality can also be integrated into the design of new ADs.
