Elke vrouw in Nederland is wel eens tot de schokkende realisatie gekomen dat er geen maandverband of tampon in je tas zit. Je wordt zenuwachtig. Heb je dan wel genoeg? Ga je niet doorlekken in je nieuwe spijkerbroek? Wat als je klasgenoten of collega’s het opvalt? Één op de 10 vrouwen in Nederland voelt deze zenuwen regelmatig, omdat zij dit luxeproduct niet of nauwelijks maandelijks kunnen betalen. Vrouwen hergebruiken dan soms producten, lenen deze van een vriendin of meisjes slaan een aantal dagen school in het jaar over. Maandverband, tampons, of wat voor sanitaire producten dan ook zou voor niemand een extra last moeten zijn, dit is in Nederland helaas wel het geval. Dit noemen we ook wel menstruatiearmoede.
Bloody Basics vindt dit belachelijk. Dit zijn niet de gelijkwaardige kansen en mogelijkheden die in ons land vanzelfsprekend zouden moeten zijn. Wij roepen daarom de Nederlandse Kamerleden en het Kabinet op om dit te veranderen en er voor te zorgen dat meisjes en vrouwen in Nederland altijd en overal voldoende toegang tot sanitaire producten hebben. De eerste stap hiervoor is waarborgen van voldoende en adequate toegang tot sanitaire producten in de Nederlandse wet- en regelgeving vóór 2030.
