blue manatee press was founded in 2011 with a mission to create meaningful, enduring books that help bring grown-ups and children together. Led by a pediatrician, our team consists of experts in child development, fine art, and children’s literature, our laboratory an award-winning independent bookstore in business for over 20 years.
We publish original children's books that utilize a variety of artistic media and strive to create stories that are both educational and fun, with an emphasis on turning off screens and experiencing the world through hands-on, creative play.
blue manatee press titles are exclusively distributed by Independent Publishers Group and wholesalers nationwide.
A major part of the blue manatee press mission is to create and distribute excellent children’s books that convey important, evidence-based health information for families of infants and young children in a readable, nurturing way.
Led by a pediatrician with unique expertise in general and health literacy, we seek to redefine how such information is shared, especially in at-risk, culturally diverse populations. We welcome partnerships with public health, pediatric, and other nonprofit advocacy organizations, to help ensure that the story for all children is a happy and healthy one.
