Bangladesh Marine Academy, Sylhet is a maritime educational institution with full governmental status overseen by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of Bangladesh. From Pre-Sea Cadet Training, it offers courses for all levels of sea services.
Bangladesh Marine Academy, Chittagong was reestablished in 1972 after the liberation war, realizing the significance of the nation's reformation and economic progress. This institution has been the only public maritime training facility to prepare officer cadets. Nearly 50 years later, four further marine academies were built in Barishal, Pabna, Rangpur, and Sylhet by the Ministry of Shipping, which served as the implementing agency.
The Academy offers 4-year Pre-Sea Nautical Science and 4-year Pre-Sea Marine Engineering programs as part of its commitment to 'creating world-class maritime leaders'. The Cadets also receive a 4-year Bachelor of Maritime Science in Nautical Science/Marine Engineering (Honors) degree in parallel through an affiliation with the Bangladesh Maritime University.
