BRES is de huurdersbelangenvereniging van de Leidse vestiging van woningcorporatie DUWO en vertegenwoordigt ruim 7000 huurders. Wij staan voor redelijke huurprijzen, reële servicekosten en een goede dienstverlening door DUWO. BRES heeft een wettelijk bepaalde invloed op het beleid van DUWO in de vorm van advies en vaak zelfs instemming. Als DUWO haar beleid bepaalt, zitten wij ook aan tafel. Bij een groot aantal onderwerpen hebben wij invloed in de besluitvorming. We onderhandelen over punten als:
- de jaarlijkse huurverhoging,
- de samenstelling en afrekening van de servicekosten,
- het plaatsingsbeleid,
- de klantgerichtheid van DUWO,
- het beheer van de panden,
- het duurzaamheidsbeleid van DUWO.
Om de belangen van de Leidse huurders zo goed mogelijk te behartigen, is BRES op zowel centraal (beleidsmatig) als lokaal (voornamelijk praktisch) niveau actief. Op centraal niveau werken wij samen met onze zusterverenigingen in Delft, Amstelveen en Amsterdam, om elkaar bij te staan met kennis en advies. Op lokaal niveau zitten wij om tafel met de bestuurders en sociaal beheerders van DUWO Leiden, Gemeente Leiden en diverse (studenten)belangenorganisaties.
Daarnaast helpen wij individuele huurders wanneer zij problemen hebben met DUWO door middel van informatie, bemiddeling en juridische ondersteuning. Bij het behandelen van de eerdergenoemde zaken staat het belang van de huurder prominent op de eerste plek!
