Technology Volunteers was founded by Alicia in 2018 after meeting with a charity who asked if she knew any software engineers to help with a project. As co-founder of Socially Responsible Recruitment (SR2) the answer was yes, of course! The problem with this scenario was the charity had no in house experience to support the project, and no budget to employ or contract someone.
There are some awesome initiatives available on the market who inspire us daily, but we were really looking to have specialist focus on technology volunteering for individuals or companies who want to give back and gift their skills to underfunded charities across the UK .... at that moment Technology Volunteers was created.
From emails, to Slack, to a database and now this lovely bespoke website we're constantly on the lookout to grow and improve what we can do in reducing the friction in getting volunteers out there. Whatever form we're currently taking we promise you this - we'll always be free and always have fun doing it!

Mission and Values
Our mission is to connect talented folk in tech with underfunded charities, groups and schools in the UK who don't have the funds or technical knowledge to transform or improve their digital processes and systems. In doing so our volunteers allow charities to spend more time doing the valuable work they need to do to make the world a better place.
In order to succeed we believe that our volunteers, charities and ourselves should align and share the same core values to bring with us into the work we do together.
