Het Buddy-project is een initiatief van de stad Leuven waarbij kinderen en jongeren hulp krijgen van een naschoolse studiebegeleider. Deze begeleiders of buddy's leggen de nadruk enerzijds op inhoudelijke begeleiding en anderzijds op het inspireren en motiveren van de leerlingen. Sinds de lancering van het Buddy-project in 2007 staat één doel centraal: het bevorderen van de slaagkansen in het onderwijs.
Anno 2015 maken 672 vrijwillige buddybegeleiders een verschil voor meer dan 1000 kinderen in 32 Leuvense scholen. Zowel in lagere als in secundaire scholen staan ze tweemaal per week extra naschoolse begeleiding te geven. Een buddy moedigt het leerproces van de kinderen aan als een supporter van op de zijlijn.
