"Webpages" ... "Pages" ... The terminology made sense back in the day and served us well when the internet media was new. We needed to learn to understand it, and our assignments revolved around translating our physical documents into digital pendants. The "page" was a useful frame of reference and worked fine in regard to the one-dimensional experience of surfing from a big screen to the sharp tones from the dusty modem.
In the landscape we as technicians need to be able operate in nowadays, the "pages" terminology has overstayed its welcome. The likes of smartphones, -watches, refrigerators, etc. now forces us to a frame of mind that rather revolves around “systems”. Design systems, in which the elements that make up our applications resides, and requires the attention and love they need.
Only by processing the components of our IA as self-contained entities, and independently of the interfaces users interact with them by, we can succeed in building applications that meet all the many requirements that exist for them today.
