The Canadian Academy of Child Psychiatry was founded in 1980 and in 2002 became the Canadian Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (CACAP) to reflect more accurately the children, youth, and families served by the profession.

L’Académie canadienne de psychiatrie de l’enfant a été fondée en 1980 ; elle est devenue l’Académie canadienne de psychiatrie de l’enfant et de l’adolescent (ACPEA) en 2002 afin de refléter le fait que la pédopsychiatrie offre des services aux enfants, aux adolescents et à leur famille.
