Career-Menu is focused on providing a menu of careers that people can browse in order to find one that speaks to them. There are 3 interesting trends that call for a solution like Career-Menu. The first is that we are finding our young people increasingly unprepared for today's working world as the working world is changing faster than the education system can adapt. The second is that the economy is changing rapidly and with it the types of jobs needed. This means that the workforce can become mismatched with the jobs needed unless there is some mechanism to call out where the needs are and show a pathway for how to get trained or educated for those jobs. The third trend is is that people are looking for more of a work-life balance than in the past and as part of that they want their jobs to be fulfilling and rewarding, not just something that pays the bills. So, it's not as uncommon as it once was for someone to switch career paths entirely in the middle of their working life. Career-Menu attempts to find a place at the intersection of all these needs to provide an overview of the available and needed careers, the pathway to these careers, and how to break into these different fields. And we attempt to do so by connecting people. We are creating a site where you can sort through careers and companies offering roles in these career fields and hear from real people in these careers in order to give a firsthand perspective on what they are like.
