Carpe Diem Basketball is a premier basketball training company, with the goal right in the name. Carpe Diem is famously known as the Latin phrase "Seize the Day", and that is what all Carpe Diem athletes strive to do on and off the court. Founded in 2018 in Rochester, NY, Carpe Diem is led by head trainer Bill Burns, who has years of experience in training and developing athletes all throughout the country.
Raised in Syracuse, NY, Burns was fortunate to learn from some of the best trainers in the business as he progressed through his basketball career. A leader on the Christian Brothers Academy team in high school, Burns went on to play at SUNY Geneseo, where he helped the team to it's first NCAA tournament appearance in 20 seasons. Due to an unforeseen heart condition, Burns stepped down from the team in the fall of 2015, and it was then where he found his love for coaching and training.
Burns became the head coach of the Keshequa Indians varsity boys team. At 20 years old, Burns led the team to a 11-9 record, compared to the 3-17 record the team had the year before. Burns was also responsible for training the SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team in the off season/weekends, with two players achieving All-SUNYAC honors that season. Burns stepped down from Keshequa after the 2016-2017 season, to get his masters degree in Athletic Administration from SUNY Brockport.
Burns has worked with athletes from high level programs, like the University of Kansas, Syracuse University, and USA Basketball before the team left for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Noticing a void in training in the Rochester area, Burns has partnered with Pinnacle Athletic Campus in Victor, NY, to bring top tier training to the Rochester community. This is achieved by focusing on player based skills and goals, a never quit work ethic, and giving each athlete the tools to reach the next step in their career. The goal of Carpe Diem is simple: Be The Best In The Game!
