Cementation Africa is one of the continent’s most respected underground mining contractors. Established 21 years ago through the merger of Murray & Roberts RUC and The Cementation Company (Africa), we earned our reputation under the Murray & Roberts Cementation name, delivering technical excellence, innovative solutions and an unwavering commitment to safety, our environment and value creation.
Our 21st anniversary in 2025 marked a bold new chapter. On 1 July 2025, we became Cementation Africa following our acquisition by a consortium led by Differential Capital. Cementation Africa delivers the full spectrum of underground mine development services. This includes shaft sinking (both vertical and decline), shaft equipping, tunnelling, underground chamber excavation and support, equipment installation and shaft refurbishment, raise drilling, water sealing and grout plant operation. Our engineering capabilities span the design and implementation of shaft infrastructure, detailed mine planning, execution and feasibility studies and the digitisation of underground mining maintenance processes.
We apply tailored solutions across mechanised mining methods, ensuring optimal productivity and safety outcomes. Every solution is engineered to align with the specific needs of each unique mining project.
To support skills development in the sector, we are proud to operate our own accredited Training Academy – the only one of its kind in South Africa. This world class facility plays a critical role in developing future mining professionals, enhancing operational readiness and embedding a culture of safety excellence across the underground mining industry.
