The Cafe Femenino Foundation (CFF) offers hope, opportunity and aid to disenfranchised women in the poorest and least accessible areas of the coffee-growing countries. These women perform much of the physical labor required to grow and harvest coffee, yet they have almost no influence on decisions about their family's income. The are typically uneducated, impoverished and disconnected from resources.
We enhance the status of the women by empowering them with skills and income producing opportunities by providing small grants and micro-loans to help the women and their families diversify their income sources. The grants requested by the women improve nutrition, health and education of the families and communities. The Foundation also provides emergency aid when there is typically none.
Our Story
The Cafe Femenino Foundation (CFF) was founded in 2004 by Gay and Garth Smith of Vancouver, WA driven by the desire to improve the lives of women and children in remote communities that improve organic coffee. There was a concern with the lack of basic human rights for women and girls, so they focused on improving the status and standard of living for these individuals and their families.
The Cafe Femenino Foundation is a volunteer-driven organization ensuring more of the funds raised go directly to funding grant requests.
Mission: Enhancing the lives of women and families in coffee producing communities around the world
