CFNS was initiated in 2020 as community innovation fieldlab and was soon adopted by Rijkswaterstaat. It developed into an public-private ecosystem in 2023 and has initiated and inspired several maritime communication proof-of-concepts, research papers, policy changes and also some new ecosystem spin-offs, meanwhile.
The mission of the fieldlab is to provide suitable connectivity in the the Dutch continental shelve (North Sea) in 2030. We propose, research and validate maritime connectivity solutions, implementing technologies as DAB+, 4/5/6G, LEO satcom and VDES as open innovation community in Public Private Partnership (PPP).
