A study published by the World Health Organisation (WHO) shows that the high cost of medication and the growing number of on-line shoppers is increasingly encouraging people to buy product over the internet, leaving them vulnerable to counterfeit product.
These counterfeits are the cause of over 120,000 deaths a year in Africa alone from Malaria.
This problem is so big that the European parliament has introduced the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) and the US Government has passed the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA). Both of these initiatives have laid out a legal framework to ensure that the origin of drugs can be tracked back to the manufacturer.
Enter checkitsreal with a new Blockchain app based ecosystem that allows anyone to verify a product as real by simply scanning a QR code with a phone based app.
The app can also be configured to identify that the product has been sold and is no longer available for purchase protecting both the consumer and the supplier. Batches or lots of product can also be tracked as they move through the supply chain and are handed off to packagers and distributors.

As part of the checkitsreal ICO, we will contribute 100 tokens on behalf of each person who participates in the ICO to a program to reduce deaths from Malaria due to the use of counterfeit medication.
