Panhellenic Association “Child’s Heart” was launched in 1981 but was officially established in 1983 to protect, inform and help CHD children and their families. This effort was triggered by a traumatic personal experience of Mrs Athina Varela-Koltsidopoulou and the first members of the Association, who in the 80's had to face the utter lack of information, assistance and specialized medical care as well as a bureaucratic maze, in order to ensure access to overseas special centers for the relief of their children. In the years that passed, the situation has dramatically changed. Nowadays in Greece, there are special hospital centers that can promptly ensure the correct diagnosis and better care for the treatment of these children. The Association continues all these years with loyalty and fighting spirit to promote its objectives, seek the best possible conditions for these children and their parents, to inform society about this problem and its best treatment as well as to actively demand by the state of effective and timely support of citizens that confront with this problem. In this effort, the association has as strategic allies its members, who support every project and activity with extreme sensitivity and consistency. On our website you are able to learn about our association, our objectives and activities and learn about everything concerning the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of this disease.
