C2R is the only charity offering a year-round programme of adaptive climbing and mountaineering, peer-to-peer mentoring, work experience and professional training and qualification for seriously wounded, injured or sick service people and veterans. Our programme has been carefully designed to compliment clinical support and other recovery and rehabilitative interventions, to maximise recovery, without requiring a clinical setting and eliminating stigmatising.
C2R offers climbing and mountaineering, funding beneficiaries through the hierarchy of professional mountaineering qualifications, enabling members the opportunity to return and remain engaged with a programme for many years, and we offer the community of members and culture of emotional and practical support.
C2R is also involved in academic research on the benefits of seriously wounded service people and veterans participating in regular climbing and mountaineering, helping to advance theories and approaches to veteran recovery and rehabilitation.
C2R supports seriously wounded, injured and sick service people and veterans, all of whom have completed at least two-years of conventional treatment – yet remain chronically and severely disabled by their adversity, through a year-round programme of fully-funded residential adaptive and progressive climbing and mountaineering.
Climb 2 Recovery has been delivering activity since 2016, registered as a charity in 2019, and became an Affiliated Club of the British Mountaineering Council and a Skills Course Provider for Mountain Training UK in 2023. Our programme is well established, has a track record of delivery success and safety, and organisational/charitable transparency and accountability.
C2R delivers 1300-training days (per person per day) annually, supports 140+ members, of whom 85 members attend multiple courses each year, and has the capacity to grow by 60+ members per year. We sponsor members towards a variety of goals and qualifications.
