The Centre for Micro Analysis of Materials (CMAM) is a research center belonging to the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) whose main experimental tool is an electrostatic ion accelerator with a maximum terminal voltage of 5 MV, devoted to the analysis and modification of materials. The accelerator is exploited through a set of beamlines, complemented by several ancillary scientific tools and lab support spaces. The Materials Micro-Analysis Center (CMAM) has recently been recognized as a Singular Scientific-Technical Facility (ICTS), joining the ICTS map in coordination with the National Accelerator Center (CNA) of Seville and form the distributed ICTS IABA (Infrastructure of applications based on accelerators). CMAM manages REDLAB-171, a laboratory of the Comunidad de Madrid Network. CMAM is the result of a project financed through the FEDER program and originally led by Prof. Fernando Agulló López, assisted by an Advisory Committee formed by outstanding members of the Spanish scientific, cultural and academic community. The facility was inaugurated on March 24 2003.
