Stichting Combi-Ster is in 1991 ontstaan als een samenwerkingsverband van drie ziekenhuizen, het Diaconessenhuis Voorburg, het Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis te Delft en het Ruwaard van Puttenziekenhuis te Spijkenisse. De basis werd gelegd door overname van Rentex Stericenter West. Het Diaconessenhuis Voorburg en het Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis in Delft zijn medio 1996 samengegaan in de Reinier de Graaf Groep (RdGG). Het samenwerkingsverband is in het tweede kwartaal 2013 versterkt met het HagaZiekenhuis. Combi-Ster nu een onderdeel van de Reinier HAGA Groep.
De stichting draagt de zorg voor het transporteren, beheren en uitvoeren van reinigings-, ontsmettings- en sterilisatieactiviteiten van medische hulpmiddelen voor ziekenhuizen (RdGG en HagaZiekenhuis) in de gezondheidszorg. Combi-Ster is sinds 1997 ISO9001 gecertificeerd.
Na elke operatieve ingreep moeten de medische hulpmiddelen getransporteerd, gereinigd, gecontroleerd, samengesteld, verpakt en gesteriliseerd worden. Dit hele proces wordt door Combi-Ster uitgevoerd.
