The CPS Direct Mail program was created as a means to provide our dealers with a customer generation product to attract qualified subprime auto buyers, with the goal of turning those leads into auto finance contracts for CPS. Additionally, the direct mail program helps differentiate CPS from other auto finance companies because we are one of the few players in the market that can provide customers and auto finance programs to dealers.
Consumer Portfolio Services, Inc. ("CPS") is a specialty finance company that provides indirect automobile financing to vehicle purchasers with past credit problems, low incomes, or limited credit histories. CPS purchases retail installment sales contracts from primarily factory franchised automobile dealers. The contracts are secured by late model used cars and, to a lesser extent, new cars. CPS accumulates the contracts into pools, and finances the pooled contracts through the issuance of "AAA" rated asset-backed securities. CPS retains a substantial economic interest in the performance of the pools and, as a result, services all of the contracts it purchases.
