Cribwolf Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to help meet the growing demand for accessible, affordable, supportive housing for individuals with developmental disabilities (IDD) in Canada. The challenges associated with caring for someone with a developmental disability are enormous. Parents and caregivers shoulder a lifelong burden of care and support to provide a safe and loving environment. The ability of parents and family members to provide continuous 24/7 care is impacted by our aging demographics, health concerns, job related issues, and the loss of life.
But what happens when a parent is no longer able to provide the loving support to their loved one, now an adult, with a developmental disability?
Finding the right housing model, the support systems needed, technology requirements, community engagement, timing, availability, etc., all become part of the ‘succession planning process’.
Cribwolf Foundation supports a multi-unit residential community with mixed tenancy, that enriches the lives of all residents in a safe, inclusive, harmonious and nurturing environment allowing for independence, choice and personal growth.
We need to do better for the individuals, families and our communities facing this housing crisis.
Together we can help those that cannot help themselves.
