Cronos Consulting is a 'trading name' for an independent I.T. security and audit consultant - Norman Crocker.
With over 30 years practical experience in Mainframe (MVS - now known as z/OS) Security and Audit, working firstly with ACF2 (now owned by Computer Associates - CA) and later with IBM's RACF.
Assignments are most usually carried out for large companies in the financial sector - banks, insurance and pensions being most common. Close on 60 detailed technical reviews of the functioning of the security software and system controls have been carried out for these clients.
Longer term assignments usually involve working with the clients staff to correct exposures and generally improve the controls and/or auditability in the security software. With today's accent on compliance processes, the production of detailed documentation for existing technical and procedural security has become important to some clients.
Training in various aspects of mainframe system security can also be carried out where appropriate.
Some general I.T. training for auditors is also available, preparation seminars for the ISACA 'CISA' qualification have been given in Scandinavia since about 1997.
Most assignmnets are within Europe, work has also been carried out in the Middle East, Far East and South America.
