The Prevention Department was transformed into a Directorate for the Prevention of Occupational Risks on February 26, 2001. Attached to the General Secretariat, the Directorate of Occupational Risk Prevention (DPRP) is responsible for the application and implementation of the policy of prevention of occupational risks, throughout the Senegalese territory.
As such, it is given specific missions that are:
▪️To ensure that employers comply with the legal and regulatory requirements relating to hygiene, safety and occupational medicine;
▪️To participate in the development and implementation of the National Program for the Prevention of Occupational Risks;
▪️To assist in the establishment and management of Health and Safety Committees and Occupational Medicine Services, in connection with the Ministry of Labor.
