Curio was founded with the single aim of improving STEM education through the use of advanced technologies. This does not mean using modern technologies for the sake of using them but rather identifying subjects and use-cases which allow the strengths of various media (e.g., VR) to be utilized. We feel a calling to enter the space because we feel technology in education has fallen short for a number of reasons: - Current education fails to understand the power of experiential learning in the process of gaining full expertise over topics - Education technology typically suffers from one of two vices: 1. Over-indexing on technology for the sake of using advanced technology without understanding how the technology is adding value 2. Assuming that strong subject matter expertise is all that is needed for a technology to be a successful teaching tool Our company values are: - Ensure technology is used in the most optimal way based on the inherent attributes of the media - Match technology with a masterful understanding of the subject matters which we address - Use pedagogical principles to combine technology and subject matter expertise to create best-in-class education tools - Experiential learning will be at the core of our initial product offerings - enhancing the use of subconscious understanding and the role of the sense in the understanding process Ultimately, we are dedicated to evolving our offering to meet the needs of teachers and students everywhere in their mission to improve understanding of difficult to teach topics.
