Comedy Women in Print is the UK’s first literary award dedicated to witty women authors. Founded by actress and writer Helen Lederer, CWIP is now in its third year, with a two-tiered novel prize - Published and Unpublished. We have created an original platform for aspiring and established writers, publishers, press and celebrities – all brought together in a diverse community to celebrate witty writing. We have also enjoyed partnering with LDC Comics to host a Humorous Comic Graphic category. CWIP creates meaningful opportunities. Harper Collins publish the winner of the Unpublished Manuscripts and offers £5000 advance. Hertford University offers a place on their Creative Writing MA course to the unpublished runner-up. Falmouth University gives a place to a second runner up on their On-Line MA in Comedy Writing. There’s been a 50% increase in entries in 2021 and we can’t stop now! As this year’s chair of the judging panel, Joanne Harris says, “Humour is the thing that connects and reflects all of humanity.” CWIP offers an ongoing Flasher Fictions series as an additional way to reach out to diverse communities and have fun with wit. CWIP offers a way to connect with established witty authors and a whole new audience of smart, trusted and engaged voices for our times.
