Our team is a diverse collection of students ranging from Mechanical engineers to Industrial engineers; working together to develop a prototype wind turbine, a theoretical offshore wind farm design located in the Gulf of Mexico, and an outreach presence so we can have an even more diverse team. This project is a continuation from last semester (2022), and our team was selected by the US Department of Energy to represent OSU in Phase 2 of the project in Boulder, CO. Many students on this project are seniors trying to complete their capstone to graduate; while some are freshmen who are passionate about normalizing cheap and efficient wind energy for the future.
This is an engineering senior design project but we want non-engineers to get involved. We have opportunities for other majors to get involved, not just engineers. This project has aspects that involve, plant and wildlife research, soil and earth analysis, social media and outreaching, and planning/management.
