Freelancer Plus began as a free daily ezine, aggregating top stories from:
• start-up, small biz, entrepreneurship and branding;
• small biz finance, tax planning, insurance and mortgages;
• social media strategy, incl. blogging, content marketing and search engine discoverability.
It developed into a whole network, with a Tumblr hub, Twitter a/c (@FreelancerPlus) and Facebook Page. Sadly, the Paper.li ezine and once-burgeoning community on G+ fell by the wayside as the host sites downed tools.
The network focuses on helping independent professionals and entrepreneurs in two key areas:
1. amplifying your voice, developing your brand;
2. understanding finance now that you're a limited company contractor or self-employed individual.
Isolation can accompany self-employment, especially for those working remotely from home. It needn’t be that way.
Understanding what works online and developing networking skills can help even those with little knowledge (or time!) to raise their online profile.
In turn, amplification of “brand you” will embed your presence and business in the minds of others, key to gaining momentum, extending both reach and self-development.
Finance also flips on its head when you're self-employed. Approaching lenders without a P60 and regular salary leads to all sorts of complications.
