Tên dự án DATACracy được lấy cảm hứng bởi: Data và Democracy.
Data - dữ liệu, là một khái niệm không còn xa lạ gì với tất cả chúng ta. Chúng ta sống và cải thiện chất lượng cuộc sống mỗi ngày dựa vào dữ liệu và không ngừng tạo ra dữ liệu.
Còn Democracy, từ gốc trong tiếng Hy Lạp, là kết hợp giữa Demo (Con người) và Cracy (Quyền làm chủ). Democratization (Phổ cập), theo từ điển Oxford, mang nghĩa để chỉ những nỗ lực và phát kiến để biến một thứ gì đó phổ biến rộng rãi và dễ tiếp cận: Hàng không giá rẻ, là điện thoại thông minh, là Internet, là Coursera, là Youtube, là Airbnb, Uber cũng để mang những giá trị từng xa lạ nay lại nằm ngay đầu ngón tay của bao người. Democratization - Trao quyền cho mọi người, chính là giúp tất cả mọi người bước qua những rào cản và dễ dàng tiếp nhận với những thứ ta cần hơn.
Mục tiêu của dự án muốn đem tới:
1/ Đem những hiểu biết và kỹ năng về Data đến cho bất kỳ ai muốn ứng dụng, và mỗi người có thể tiếp thu theo trình độ và nhu cầu của mỗi cá nhân.
2/ Democratize (phổ cập) thường thức về Data cho mọi đối tượng
3/ Democratize kỹ năng và mở ra định hướng nghề nghiệp về Data cho lực lượng lao động trẻ.
Và cuối cùng, democratize những giải pháp về Data cho doanh nghiệp vừa và nhỏ.
Ứng với đó, DATACracy là chuỗi dự án gồm 3 phần:
- Big-O: Phổ cập thường thức về Data cho mọi đối tượng
- Atom: Lớp học mở về Data Science
- Scala: Ứng dụng Data Science để giải quyết các bài toán thực tế của doanh nghiệp vừa và nhỏ.
