Wat gebeurt er als twee alumni elkaar bij een goed glas ontmoeten? Ze filosoferen over de leuke studententijd en halen anekdotes op… Maar plots wordt het gesprek ernstiger: hoe zouden ze de vrienden van vroeger terug samen kunnen brengen, de contacten met de docenten kunnen versterken, een netwerk kunnen uitbouwen? Als knipoog naar ’s werelds bekendste ingenieur Leonardo Da Vinci werd in 2017 ‘De alumnivereniging ingenieurs Antwerpen’ of kortweg DavingA opgericht. Deze vereniging verwelkomt alle industrieel of technisch ingenieurs die in de regio Antwerpen promoveerden, zowel zij die momenteel aan de Universiteit Antwerpen afstuderen, als zij die voorheen aan de Karel de Grote Hogeschool, HTI Don Bosco, Katholieke Industriële Hogeschool Antwerpen, Industriële Hogeschool Antwerpen-Mechelen, Hogeschool Antwerpen of Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen studeerden.
De doelstelling van DavingA is om een platform aan te bieden dat inspeelt op de noden van Antwerpse ingenieurs. Hiervoor zal er ingezet worden op 4 groei-pijlers:
Vriendschap/het aanhalen van persoonlijke contacten met oud-collega’s
Persoonlijke vorming van de alumni
Professionele vorming van de alumni
Professioneel netwerken
Hiernaast zal DavingA zich ook inzetten om de banden te versterken tussen het werkveld en de opleidingen van de faculteit toegepaste ingenieurswetenschappen van de UA. Een sterke alumnivereniging creëert namelijk ambassadeurs, geeft merkversterking en kan helpen bij de ontwikkeling en organisatie van de opleidingen (vb aanbieden van stageplaatsen, fondswerving, mentoring, enz.)
Met zijn uitgebreid netwerk staat DavingA dus ten dienste van zowel alumni als opleiding industrieel ingenieur aan de Universiteit Antwerpen.
