De Tussenruimte is een onafhankelijke, reizende, publieke ruimte. Waarin mensen vanuit verschillende perspectieven hun wereld bevragen en helpen vormgeven. Centraal staat de vrije uitwisseling van ideeën over maatschappelijke, politieke, ethische, esthetische en zingevingsthema’s.
Inhoudelijk focust De Tussenruimte op de vraag: Hoe samen te leven? Hoe de gezamenlijkheid mogelijk te maken? Hoe te verbinden naar de toekomst? Hoe een democratische houding aan te nemen?
De Tussenruimte krijgt concreet vorm in publieke interviews, (socratische) dialogen, tafelgesprekken, debatten, morele beraden, podcasts. Altijd is het uitgangspunt: constructieve, onderzoekende en interactieve dialoog.
De programmering geschiedt in cocreatie met kennispartners, studenten, docenten, onderzoekers en programmamakers. Samen creëren zij een Tussenruimte waar vrije dialoog mogelijk is. De term de Tussenruimte is ontleend aan filosoof Hannah Arendt, voorvechtster van een vrije publieke ruimte. Een ruimte waarin men via kritisch denken, dialogeren en debatteren tot gezamenlijk handelen komt.
De Tussenruimte in Utrecht
In de stad Utrecht richt De Tussenruimte zich op specifieke problemen en thema’s die spelen in wijken en buurten. In samenwerking met studenten van Utrechtse onderwijsinstellingen en buurtbewoners probeert zij die problemen helder te krijgen. Studenten interviewen bewoners, en samen bieden we mensen een podium in hun eigen wijk. Daar kunnen zij met elkaar en met andere betrokkenen, belanghebbenden en deskundigen in gesprek. Een neutrale ruimte om elkaar te ontmoeten en stappen te zetten. Een tussenruimte.
