Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für ME/CFS e. V. ist eine 2016 gegründete Patientenorganisation. Wir engagieren uns in Fachkreisen, auf politischer Ebene und durch Öffentlichkeitsarbeit dafür, dass ME/CFS-Betroffene zukünftig eine adäquate medizinische und soziale Versorgung erhalten und die Forschung ausgebaut wird. Dafür verbinden wir die wichtige Expertise von Erkrankten und Angehörigen mit der Expertise eines erfahrenen Ärztlichen Beirats.
ME/CFS (Myalgische Enzephalomyelitis / Chronisches Fatigue Syndrom) ist eine schwere körperliche Erkrankung. Die Lebensqualität der Betroffenen ist sehr niedrig: Ein Viertel der Erkrankten kann das Haus nicht mehr verlassen, viele sind bettlägerig und über 60 Prozent arbeitsunfähig. Obwohl mehrere Hunderttausend Menschen in Deutschland und viele Millionen weltweit erkrankt sind, ist ME/CFS in der Öffentlichkeit und im Gesundheitswesen bisher kaum bekannt und wird oft missverstanden. Die Ursachen der Krankheit sind nur wenig erforscht und es gibt noch keine zugelassene Therapie. Das wollen wir ändern!
