Die DGRh ist mit mehr als 1.750 Mitgliedern die deutsche medizinisch-wissenschaftliche Fachgesellschaft im Bereich der Rheumatologie. Sie fördert seit mehr als 95 Jahren rheumatologische Wissenschaft und Forschung und deren Entwicklung in Deutschland. Als gemeinnütziger Verein arbeitet die DGRh unabhängig und zum Nutzen der Allgemeinheit, ohne dabei wirtschaftliche Ziele zu verfolgen.
Zentrale Anliegen der Fachgesellschaft sind die Erforschung rheumatischer Erkrankungen sowie der fachliche Austausch über wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse und praktische Erfahrungen. Die DGRh fördert wissenschaftliche Konzepte der Aus-, Weiter- und Fortbildung von Ärzt:innen und Angehörigen medizinischer Assistenzberufe sowie der Schulung von Patient:innen. Sie sorgt auf diese Weise dafür, wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse in angewandte Heilkunde zu übertragen. Die Information ihrer Mitglieder, der Ärzteschaft und der Öffentlichkeit über die Entwicklungen in der Rheumatologie ist wesentlicher Auftrag der DGRh.
