Our Story:
Literacy isn't just reading and writing. It's a tool for understanding, and it powers technology, culture, the economy, politics, health... even the understanding of ones’ self.
Imagine a book you read recently that changed your life. 14% of the US population can’t read & write above a basic level. That’s 32 Million people who are unable to improve their lives. They can’t contribute, and they can’t connect.
My father and I were shocked to learn of these statistics, so we are doing something about it. I mean, it’s 2017— Elon Musk says we will go to Mars in 2024. We seem to live in a world where anything is possible... And yet, 32 Million Americans can’t actualize their potential. I’d like to live in a world where they do.
The good news is that the future isn’t determined by the past. It’s determined by what happens now. Literacy is a way to a more mindful, hopeful, and productive future.
Our notebooks help create that future. They're #madeintheUSA from recycled materials, and packaged locally at homeless shelters in NYC. Each purchase helps a student with the cost of supplies.
